The Region of Abruzzo

Click to enlarge Abruzzo mapSun, snow, rough mountains, sandy beaches, rivers, lakes, ancient history, night life and fantastic food, whatever you want Abruzzo's got it.

The Abruzzo region is located in the central part of Italy between the Adriatic and the Apennine mountains.  Abruzzo is by many conceived as the best kept secret of Italy, since the region is not crowded with foreign tourists.

The Gran Sasso offers excellent skiing and hiking opportunities and in the south of the region, its clutch of national parks are a highlight of Abruzzo, offering outstanding scenery and walking opportunities. Abruzzo is often an overlooked region but what it offers is a real taste of Italy with the majority of tourists of Italian origin. They come for the scenery, the vast open spaces, the freshness of the air, the food and the warmth of the locals.
